Sunrise Alarm Clocks - The Birth Of Something Brilliant

Doesn't My Sunrise Alarm Clock Look Stunning!

When I first came across a crazy sounding gadget called a sunrise alarm clock, I thought to myself "this is one of the silliest things I have ever heard of!" Turning my back on this "new age" alarm clock, I soon forgot that it even existed until a few weeks later, while visiting my friends house, I saw a strange looking object on his bedside table. Seeing me looking at it with a weird twinkle in my eye, he revealed it to be a sunrise alarm clock.

The first word that came out of my mouth were "does it really work?" Then for the next 30 minutes my friend raved on, and on about this amazing clock and how it has completely changed the way he feels in the morning and throughout the day. He also told me that he is now full of energy and gets to sleep quickly and wakes up feeling fantastic.

For someone who hates waking up and was nicknamed "grumblebum" from the sour mood I was in each morning I had to give this strange alarm clock a whirl. When I got home I hopped onto the Internet and ordered my very own sunrise alarm clock and trialled it out for the week to see if it made any difference.

The way a sunrise alarm clock (or dawn simulator) as it is also know as works, is it wakes you up by a gradually increasing light which at its brightest (the time you set to wake up at) you will wake up in a gentle manner. This may sound like it will not work but it is actually the preferable way the body wants to wake up. Rising to sunlight is the way nature intended for you to wake up feeling happy and refreshed.

But modern day living, black out blinds, and curtains stop us from waking up in this manner. And you cannot exactly demand the sun to wake you at a certain time. But this is where the power of sunrise clocks really shines (no pun intended), as it simulates sunlight and wakes you up in a slow and gradual manner.

Anyway, so how did it work for me? Well it did take a few days getting use to it and I had to rely on the back-up audible alarm clock, while I trained my body to wake up to light (it seemed to have forgotten how to do that). But after a few days I was waking up like clockwork at my desired time without relying on the audible alarm.

The feeling of waking up this way is very strange indeed. It is like you are being gently awakened ever so softly. There is no jolt, or fright, or feeling like your head is glued to the pillow. No, you wake up and you actually feel rested and want to start your day. Since being exposed to the sunrise alarm clock I ditched my regular alarm clock and have never looked back.

This truly was the birth of something brilliant for me. Maybe it can be for you too? Click here to check out where I bought my sunrise alarm clock!
